Retro Role Cast
"Serious roleplaying games played by deeply unserious people."
We are a tabletop roleplaying actual play podcast featuring games that remind us of our gaming roots! We play in person with real math rocks! We love gritty, high action dark settings with nuance, but aren't too far away from our bitter, cynical, yet still lovable selves at all times!
Currently: Going way back to many of our players' 1e roots by playing the new third edition of OSRIC (pdf available free on DrivethruRPG, fantastic hard copies available through Mythmere Games) with a home cooked mini (?) campaign in the World known as Greyhawk in the classic era. follow along as the PCs navigate the dangerous environments and tricky politics of the Duchy of Tenh/Theocracy of the Pale border region!
In season one we played Low Fantasy Gaming by Pickpocket Press, Its sequel game Tales of Argosa is released, available, and comes highly recommended by all of us, stop by Pickpocket Games on the web for more info!
Season two saw a transition to a modified Version of Old School Essentials (Advanced) by Gavin Norman, one of many retro offshoots of the world's most popular role playing game. We borrow rules and content from many sources, but with Old School Essentials we used (in no particular order), Old School Feats by Eric Diaz, Into The Wyrd and Wild by Charles Furgeson-Avery, Into the Wild by Todd Leback, The Axian Library by Guiseppe Rotondo, and the Monster Overhaul by Skerples, amongst other sources.
With the close of Season 2 and the addition of two new Retro Role Casters we have moved to a more episodic format for Season 3. We are referring to seasons 1 and 2 as our Zero Level Funnel of Podcasting.
Season three and into the first part of Season four the four OG hosts took turns GM-ing one shots, Three Shadowdark adventures because we love Kelsey's fantastic Old meets New game, Mothership to satisfy our love of the Alien Movies and a Halloween special using the Call of Cthulhu rules.

SPEAKER_02So as a coward, I have to make some sort of a save to engage in combat.
SPEAKER_03You need to make a fear save or engage in combat or flee. Alright. Let's see what happens here. Oh my god, you can jump off the top shotgun on your head. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Fear save is 32. I rolled a 20.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_02Yes, but you mean I can't engage in combat. Engage in combat. So let's paint the picture. On a tower, he just wants to be a big one. Bad guy aliens everywhere. Something came up behind me and hit me in the back of the head. You realize he's just trying to dust. Already freaked out. Okay. So I feel that the natural reaction would be to just spin around and swing. There we go. I told you.
SPEAKER_03I mean, it might be a natural reaction. That's probably what I would do. That was flailing arms. Yeah, the player's doing it now. Right. I can't stop you from doing what your character wants to do. That's right. All right, my character. And I won't either. Is panicked. He's just gonna spin around and swing the vibra shit. Okay. A wild swing of the button. Totally.
SPEAKER_00Just yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay. 100% enthusiasm, 0% intelligence. Okay.
SPEAKER_02That's our whole danger to all things. A danger to the thing. That might be our motto.
SPEAKER_05It's definitely the intro.
SPEAKER_03We are playing Mothership, the space horror game by Tuesday Night Games. We're all having a great time playing this so far. We hope you're enjoying listening. Currently, our crew is in the APC leaving the Heron Terraforming Station. They have just left the safety of the garage where all of the colonists that they found were. They decided to follow HM3 Brookman's plans and go out and attempt to restore service to the tower satellite connection of long-range comms. Currently, everyone is in the APC. We have Stillwater Driving. I believe. Oh my god, I don't have everybody's names here. McTavish. McTavish. You are in the passenger seat. Right, I'm riding shotgun. McDuff is the right. And I'm doing all of this under protest. McDuff is in the back. We have Frank in the back. And we have joining us again after missing.
SPEAKER_06Yes, Humphrey is back. Thanks. Thanks. Eric's back.
SPEAKER_03Now we have firepower in there. Somewhere I had actual names for everything. Oh, I don't have any of my notebooks. That's unprepared for flash.
SPEAKER_05No, I knew I was forgetting something. Two recordings this week, and we both forgot our notes. Oh, God. I really just need to remember the character's names.
SPEAKER_06I don't need notes. Last I remember we had filled spray bottles with stuff, and now I woke up in the back of a back of an APC.
SPEAKER_05Raining very hard. You were still working through your STEM pack. Correct.
SPEAKER_06Working through my STEM pack. Which STEM pack number are you on? One. Just one. Just one. And I feel fine.
SPEAKER_03Along with you in the APC are HM3 Brookman, who's he was the medic. He's it's his it was his desire to go attempt to restore this and communicate with the ship and evacuate at the first available opportunity. And along with him is uh Corporal Ivanovic as well.
SPEAKER_05They were uh they were together when we were having the conversation. Right. I don't bel I don't remember if eggs and knight came along.
SPEAKER_03I think they stayed put.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're still.
SPEAKER_03They weren't too happy about it. They really wanted to go get their comrades first, and even Nadine wanted to go get her research. But do you think maybe they'll be patiently patient enough to wait for you to get back, call the rescue ship, and then Okay, so they're not coming along. No, there's room in the APC for twelve plus the two crew in the front. Okay. And there's currently six people in the back and two in the front. I I believe there was some gear given out. I think they gave most of you a pulse rifle. Yeah, correctly. Two grenades. Oh, two grenades each? Sure. Why not, right? And a flamethrower each. That was not true. Just one flamethrower. Was there a flamethrower? Yes. Yep. Who has that? It was disgusting. Well, it's in the back, but yeah. In the back. Still water has it, but but it's on your list. Correct. Okay. All right. Was there anything else that you brought? A machine gun? I believe somebody mentioned mounting a machine gun on the other. Yeah, we mounted a machine gun to the hard point. Right, even though nobody is on. Alright. So there's our immediate recap. The I think niter bags was manning that. One of them did come with. Yeah. I should probably remember these kind of things, but it's been like a month since we're going to do it. It has been a while, yeah.
SPEAKER_02There's a boom box in there somewhere.
SPEAKER_03Was there? Yes. Strapped to the front of the APC. Okay. Player Ride of the Valkyries. I wonder what else was if it's waterproof, because the rain and wind are whipping across the top of the dam. Visibility is very poor. If you remember correctly, and uh even if you don't, there was one carcinod kind of roaming around on top of the causeway. The dam is about five meters wide, giving it about a 15 to 20 feet kind of width to drive the APC across. Still water, you're driving the APC at what rate? I am not driving fast. Okay, so about easy five. Well but the top speed on this is what? Like 60? 60. So I'm not going over 30. That would be tremendously fast in this situation. Right. We're probably about 15 then. Fifteen. All right. 10 to 15. All right. I won't make any kind of driving rolls at that speed. All right. Who's on sensors? The guy next to me. I'm sorry. Oh, I'm in the front. He's in the front. And I'm not a censors guy. I believe uh see. Frank was on the sensors before.
SPEAKER_05Frank was on the sensors before.
SPEAKER_03Alright, Frank. Alright, you were you're watching the sensors. You see, right out in front on in the dam, pretty much right in the way, kind of just standing there, is one of these carcinids. Yeah. There's a bug up there.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Right over the bug. Alright. And he's announcing sensor readings, and we can all look up the wind windshield. I see.
SPEAKER_03Do you have the opening between the transport section and the driver's compartment open? The little hatchway.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's kind of warming.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05It is. I'm I've made sure that everything's clear and that I can shut it in a moment's notice if I have to. Right. Are there any windows? Or crawl through it in a moment's notice if I have to.
SPEAKER_03The windshield. The windshield.
SPEAKER_04And even that is relatively small.
SPEAKER_03It's like really not even a windshield for the passenger. Firing ports, can I open some of the things? Firing ports. We established this in pre-program.
SPEAKER_04Well, we got the gun up on the hard point.
SPEAKER_03You do have the gun up on the hard point, but you don't necessarily have the port open at the first time. Very stuffy in this APC. The environmental control smells. Smells like ass. No, it smells like dead body. Which ass is a part of. Right.
SPEAKER_04It's technically there's it's it smells like dead ass.
SPEAKER_03There's two big old decomposing body parts still hidden in here that weren't clean.
SPEAKER_02And probably some of those pieces are ass. So you just don't know. Okay. All right. This is the obsession there.
SPEAKER_05But that's what plowing ahead.
SPEAKER_04Why doesn't somebody get on the gun and shoot it? I'll get on the gun. What? Why don't we put him on the gun? Yeah, I'm in the front, but I can't really see anything. No, he's not.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he is. Yes, he's a mall cop. He works for the corporation. Oh wow. It's 40%. So as you get closer to the one on Go for it. You're gonna go up there and I'll go up there and shoot. Okay. Alright. Yeah. So it was to just turning in your direction. And you have the big a big spotlight on top of this thing. It's like a 50 cal or it's a they call it a general purpose machine gun. A GMPG. Yes, and it's essentially, I would think of it as a 30 caliber machine gun, not a head machine gun. Okay. So but it Man the Vickers. It turns and launches itself at your direction. In the meantime, Frank, you swear that every now and then you're getting little blips right out of the water. Oh you're getting something, but then it disappears. It's coming and going. We got movement glitch. So you open the screen. Bang the screen. So Humphrey bang the screen. Humphrey opens the hatch and crawl up into the turret. Correct? Correct. Alright, and then what do you do? I shoot. The thing's charging right for you. It's coming right for you. I'm shooting. It's coming right for you. Make a combat check. Oh, he failed.
SPEAKER_06Do I have to get above or below?
SPEAKER_03You're looking to get below. What are your milit your skills? Military training should count.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, military training, hand-to-hand combat.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you're a hand-to-hand guy, though, huh? On the machine gun. I'm there. His hands? I'm there. Or on the machine gun. Yeah, that's not quite how hand-to-hand.
SPEAKER_06Combat is 46. All right. I rolled a 59.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you spray the ground. I kill him. Yeah, you spray all around this thing. As it charges the APC. I'm sorry, what are you doing there? Rolling again?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I got a 58 this time.
SPEAKER_03So I don't know why you're rolling again.
SPEAKER_06For a 57 now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I got it. Wow. He did. 56, 58, 57. What are the odds? Pretty slim. We will only count one of those rolls because I'm not sure you want the three. He chooses the result. They all have the same result.
SPEAKER_06They all missed.
SPEAKER_03As I shoot, the gun goes in the air because I the trundling of the vehicle and the quick movements of the carcinet. He lost control of a gun on a hard mount.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_03Clearly, he has lots of experience doing this. Don't forget to take a stress.
SPEAKER_06It would have been better if I had just not turned the safety on.
SPEAKER_03Boy, that thing charging me looks like a crayon. And lung green. Each of those things has five shots, essentially, five bursts. So make sure to subtract who's keeping track of the gun or you are.
SPEAKER_06How many non-burstys do we have?
SPEAKER_03You have four. You have four left. Right. You get five shots, essentially, which I assume, since it's a machine gun, are bursts. Right. Before you'd need to reload.
SPEAKER_04That would be a terrible machine gun if it had five shots total. It would five bursts. It would be.
SPEAKER_03It's not even a machine gun sting. Right. That's called a rifle. Yeah. A very unwieldy rifle. Old rifle. All right. Only five shots. So the uh the carcinid launches itself towards the front of the APC. I will speed up at the APC. I will start driving faster. Okay, you start driving faster. What is your intent with the speeding up? To smash it and put it to the side. So I'm not swerving or anything like that. I'm working on programming. Okay. Right off the edge. So you're the dam. You're the village. You're driving forward and it launches itself and it looks like it's going to land on the machine. And some you see a flash from in front of you from the tower direction, and this thing just crumples in front of the APC. Somebody's up there with a you crunch right over top of it. Does that look like a pulse rifle blast? All you saw was a flash. Oh sniper rifle. And whatever it was. Sniper rifle. A sniper rifle. Put a very large hole in the thing. And Frank, you you've seen at least three blips on the sensors in the water. So I'm in the water, gang. Okay. The rain and wind is whipping. You can actually feel the APC move from the wind. That's some really fucking strong wind. Yeah, that's very impressive. That would be impressive. It's enough to move an APC, make it wiggle a little bit on top of a dam with there when there's no expect cover of any kind. There's nice flat sides. It is a tropical storm. This isn't just some rainstorm. We're talking very large, very strong storm. And you see multiple carcinids crawl out of the water just behind the APC. It was behind me. Now they are, because you gunned it before. Uh-huh. I threw off their timing. Now it's not all that far the other side of this, and you make it in just a few minutes. And you are at the other side. You have in front of you a very large tower of like a steel girder style construction. There's essentially four corner posts of large steel girders that go straight up. You can see an elevator that's at the bottom that's inside the girders, and on top you have a satellite dish, and there's an enclosed room on top of this thing. And a walkway around the edge. There's also two steel ladders that go up, one on either side of the girders, with uh an enclosure around them so you don't fall to your death. Well, that's helpful. How far how tall? How tall is it? The tower is about 80 feet tall. It's above the rest of the dam and the rest of the location by a pretty decent amount. You see about 15 feet up. So the dam itself, to the surface comes right to the base of the tower. About 15 feet across the entire length of the dam is this walkway that meets at the tower level as well. And there's a little set of stairs that go down as well. Not a stairs, a ladder that comes down from that. So you can take a little ladder up to the top of the walkway, down and up to the walkway from here as well.
SPEAKER_02What are we doing?
SPEAKER_05Well, we're surrounded on all four sides. So we have them right where we want them. You are here?
SPEAKER_03Are you still in the turret? Any direction.
SPEAKER_06Are you on the turret shooting?
SPEAKER_03Alright, yeah, there's behind us now. There's multiple carcinets behind you. So actions.
SPEAKER_05McTavish. Ah appropriate. I'm looking around the cab at Stillwater driving. Right. I'm patting my my pulse rifle reassuringly, and I'm just waiting for somebody to do something, and then I'll react. Okay. Eminent doom. Still water.
SPEAKER_03How big is the elevator? Is it big enough to drive the APC onto you? Oh god, no. No. It's a manlift. Just checking. It's a man lift. You could you figure you could probably get maybe six people on it. Okay. Is there enough room for me to turn around? No. Okay. No, you're gonna you're gonna have to back this APC all the way back across the dam. Oh, great. It came with a backup camera, but we'll roll a worry about that later. We'll roll a 50-50 to see if this works. It's a small problem. That's yeah, that's there's no like and other ends. So you're not able to turn it around. Okay. Well, okay, I'll get as close to the elevator as I can before I stop. Okay. Yeah, you're right. The front of your the APC is right there at the base of the tower. Well, they're gonna dead end. They're all gonna dismount towards the enemy.
SPEAKER_04Oh, there's no like road that continues. No. Oh, what the fuck? Well, I'm getting my my spray bottle out. Who would build this?
SPEAKER_02Bad engineering. Yeah. Anyway, so alright, so we've got how many bogies behind how many three. Three are behind us. Shoot backwards, home freeze.
SPEAKER_03Dual-wheeled spray bottles. Yep, I'm opening the back door of the APC. Okay. What if what further actions? I've got a spray bottle in one hand. And a vibro shed in the other. And a vibro shed in the other. Okay. You're going out the back door? It's opening right now. Really, it's the only way out for anybody who is in the back. Because I can't see anything. I don't know what's out there. Except for what.
SPEAKER_02I just know we got to our destination. The APC stopped.
SPEAKER_04No, and I said there's three things coming out of the room.
SPEAKER_05Frank has situational awareness in the back there. Okay. Yeah. Please close that door. It's opening.
SPEAKER_02I can't help it.
SPEAKER_03Well, stop doing that.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm figuring gun turret guy is going to take care of our problem.
SPEAKER_06But I'm thinking about running for the elevator. Time's wasted.
SPEAKER_03Shut the fucking door. Shoot the goddamn machine gun at the bugs. I'm going to open the door with my pulse rifle. Somebody give me the flamethrower. You're opening the front door with your pulse rifle. Right. Yeah. Okay. You're asking for the flamethrower.
SPEAKER_02We're going to full clown car here.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02What did we all do?
SPEAKER_04Dumb.
SPEAKER_03I never really asked Frank what he was doing. So, Frank, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_04I'm pulling out my squirt gun. Okay. No, I yeah. We can't open the door. I'm trying to close the door.
SPEAKER_02It's I'm picturing, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm picturing a mechanical door. Like the kind you would hit a button and it's a mechanical. So it's it's a not the kind of thing you're gonna stop and bring back. Yeah, it's armored, it's heavy.
SPEAKER_04Until it's a very faulty design for a vehicle.
SPEAKER_03With a button you could do it, but you wouldn't do it with your arms. You wouldn't stop by by brute. So you mean you stop the door halfway open? Is that what you droid? Well, it's I mean, it does go down where you could essentially lay across the top of it and shoot out of it.
SPEAKER_04I mean, it's really easy to one of them could very easily get into the I'm just imagining the scene we literally just saw on TV. We were watching the grenade before the alien.
SPEAKER_02We're getting a grenade ready just in case and they all get into this escape pod, and you see the alien follow them in, and then the commander rolls a grenade in and then detonates it with a remote.
SPEAKER_05It's gonna be the second time this week somebody has committed suicide with a grenade inside this APC.
SPEAKER_03Seems right. So Frank is not opening the door. He's make trying to get it closed. I'm trying to put it in the closet. So he's sitting in a minute. Right. And then we're like either side pushing buttons. No, not to turn it around. No, it's a 360.
SPEAKER_06Turn it around and shoot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the only skill check is the shot. All right, take your shot. You have to use the last two rolls you made, Bob. Yeah. No, I'm not gonna count those against you.
SPEAKER_0611. Ooh, that's a critical success.
SPEAKER_03That is a critical success. Kill them all. No, that's not quite how this works. That'd be cool if it did. Right. Yeah, that would be awesome. So it would be a lot cooler if it did. Alright, so rolling damage a while. It's four D10 damage. Oh wow. I'm sorry. What was that, Sean? Rule of cool, right? It would be really cool if he slaughtered all of them. Just mowed them fucking down.
SPEAKER_06Four, ten, six, and ten.
SPEAKER_03Four, ten, six, and ten. That's a pretty good roll. Wow. So not only is that's actually so they have an armor of 30, if you did not remember, they are highly armored. So even had you not criticled it, you would have gone through the armor. Armed disarmor. So what I'm gonna allow, I mean, we haven't really talked, like, they don't give you any kind of, hey, this is how criticals work. They just say something good happens, right? So I'm gonna do the same thing I did when Stillwater rolled a critical with his pistol. I'm going to allow it to ignore armor.
SPEAKER_06Excellent.
SPEAKER_03All right. Based on the 11, which probably it's actually the best, actually, second best possible roll. Zero zero is the best. So you go through its armor automatically, and I'm gonna say you automatically do two wounds to it. One from the automatic, like the critical, and one from your damage. So roll a D10 for your wound. That you the first one from gunshot. Three. Three. So you see you you blasted a leg, it's got a limp leg, and again, more seven. Seven. And uh you see that you punctured a hole straight through its torso and it's bleeding terribly bad, it actually collapses and doesn't move. The other two completely peel away and jump into the water after watching somebody get one of their carcinod brothers get completely slaughtered. Everybody out. You're not sure how much time you bought yourselves, but Humphrey's critical, awesome role. Seems to have bought you some time. I was right. I knew he was gonna do that. Everybody get out. So I continue to open the door. Alright. So Stillwaters sounds like he's what are you doing when you get out? I'm running to the back to get the flamethrower. Okay. You are obsessed with that flamethrower.
SPEAKER_02Hell yes.
SPEAKER_03Alright, you run around and get the flamethrower. Open the damn door, get the flamethrower, then head for the elevator. Open the you, yeah. You hit the door and it opens, or is opening. I'm heading out the back door and heading for the elevator. Okay, heading for the elevator. We're gonna do me on this turn, or yeah, you're gonna just gonna be last this time. Oh, okay. All right. Frank. Go to the elevator. No. Alright, run to rush to the elevator. No action.
SPEAKER_05Elevator elevator. I am going to open, go through the hatch in through the rear compartment and go out that way. And I'm gonna look down. I want to see how close the water gets to our location here. Meaning the how high up is it on the dam? Right. I mean, can these things flank us by coming up out of the water inside? Oh, yeah, most underneath. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Would you stop giving him ideas? We're screwed.
SPEAKER_05So uh I'm gonna point that out the still water. Light the water on fire. And have him point the be ready uh in that direction.
SPEAKER_03Flamethrower. The Bernie gun. All right. So you guys were running to the elevator, correct? I got an idea. Okay.
SPEAKER_02We dump some hydrofluoric acid in the water. In the water. It just becomes one big solution. Science. We have two gallons of hydrofluoric acid. And then they all become transparent. We can just Yeah.
SPEAKER_06They turn transparent. Kinda. Oh, that's cool.
SPEAKER_03All right. It doesn't really. No, it was made up. It's gonna put a sheen on top. Anytime they come out, it's just gonna coat them, right? Yeah. A Charlie Sheen. It's like pouring olive oil and some water and just watching it. Hydrofluoric acid on water might be cleaner than Charlie Sheen.
SPEAKER_02Well, hydrofluoric acid is missible, so it doesn't have tiger blood.
SPEAKER_03It would disperse through the water. So you two run over to the elevator, and you see that like you like push the button and nothing happens. There is a little door that says maintenance right next to it as well.
SPEAKER_02Is there a phone? You can call somebody.
SPEAKER_03No. How do you turn it on? It's just broken.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we're gonna have to wait for this guy to fix it again, and we're gonna have to listen to that goddamn harmonica music while we're dying. There are ladders. We're gonna have to crawl. There's a cage. Would be tough, yeah. Just pull parts of you. Or your cage. I'm pretty sure the crab claws can get through the bars in the cage.
SPEAKER_02Right, that's why I said they just pull parts of you.
SPEAKER_03You're pretty sure you could fix this thing. Alright, let me take a look. Quickly. Alright, he's gonna look at fixing the elevator. Frank. Oh, you're fine. Go up the ladder. You're gonna start climbing a ladder. Yeah, climb the ladder. You're gonna climb the ladder and nobody's on the machine gun? No. Begs will get on the machine.
SPEAKER_02Why is no one on the machine gun?
SPEAKER_03Because we're all on the elder. Because we yard sailed it. Beggs gets on the machine gun.
SPEAKER_04Good job. So he's covering it and staying with the APC. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And one critical thing I did forget to mention is Brookman has a key card that opens the door at the top of the tower. Well, that would be handy. Yeah, that's just poor GMing on my part. But he's here with you right now. He's got the key card. Yeah, what's he doing? He's getting out. He's waiting for the elevator. He's getting wet.
SPEAKER_07That's what he's getting wet.
SPEAKER_03Right, the wind is whipping.
SPEAKER_02He's hitting the button. Right. Does this count as industrial equipment?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. You can do jury rigging or industrial equipment.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And it's an intellect skill, I assume.
SPEAKER_03Been a while. Yeah, you could do well, actually do speed because you want to do it fast. Right? That's actually better. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So I need a 51.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I'm gonna need you to do this with disadvantage because it's if you want it to be done in a minute or so, you're gonna have to take a disadvantage. If you want to spend a half an hour, you can just roll dice. You want to do it fast, take the disadvantage.
SPEAKER_00I get a half hour.
SPEAKER_03Do you? Of course.
SPEAKER_02You fucking knew that answer was coming. I was so out of mile away.
SPEAKER_05You guys played too many computer RPGs. Pause. Go get a drink while it complete this quest.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Nothing happens until you enter the room.
SPEAKER_05That's what messed me up with Bowers Gate 3.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's an 11. And that's a 66.
SPEAKER_03Oh, but I am the king. But is a 66 a failure for you? Oh, yes. Oh, okay. All right. Do you you have uh environmental suit on, correct? Yes. Make me make me a body save as you shorted out some power equipment in an attempt to replace a fuse. Oh, we're gonna smell ozone and burning McDoff. I rolled a 44. Is that above or below? That is a failure. Okay. It is above. You take two points of damage, and everything in your suit goes dead from the electric shock. Crack. Your suit essentially shorted it driving itself. You have actual smoke inside your helmet. And you do take two points of health as it over. Like you the suit saved you from five of it.
SPEAKER_00Don't forget the stress from that.
SPEAKER_03And a stress. Too stress.
SPEAKER_06Smoke coming off the nose hairs.
SPEAKER_03So his suit is now like compromised, destroyed, and smoky. I'm taking the suit off.
SPEAKER_05Frank, you're climbing. Well, wait, doesn't a failure with a critical, doesn't that trigger a panic? Oh, it most certainly does. Thank you for reminding me.
SPEAKER_03Roll a D20. Oh, thank you. Because we've been waiting for this. We've been waiting. Five. Is that lower? I'm trying to remember. I don't know how any of this works. Actually, no. You need to get above what you have. So you and mine is at 12, sorry. Right. So you start panicking. I know panic's on here.
SPEAKER_00Motherfucker!
SPEAKER_02This goddamn shoot's a piece of shit. What the hell are you doing? Somebody fix this fucking elevator.
SPEAKER_03So he panicked. So remember that's not like panic.
SPEAKER_02That doesn't discuss.
SPEAKER_03That was more frustration.
SPEAKER_05That's just regular Tuesdays. So I want you to react. It's part of the part of the process of fixing something.
SPEAKER_03And then I start hacking away at the elevator panel with my vibra shit. Let's pause for just a sec. Okay, yeah, because he's made this. So on Thursday, when we did our Call of Cthulhu, Sean, after the game, we were talking about the mothership, and he's like, I can't believe I can't wait until I do what's that guy who wants to put the little girl in charge? Hudson. Hudson, right? So Hudson wants to put the little girl in charge. Game over, man. But why? Why? Because Hudson failed his panic check, and the term is coward. You are right now, you are an abject coward. You are unable to engage in violence. Oh, you need a fear save just to engage in violence, or you must flee. And that is your current condition. I guess I'm fleeing. You're c well, there's no violence on right now. But if any if any was to happen, you would need to make a fear check for flee. And it doesn't say how long panic takes effect for. So we'll just pair technician on machinery violence. Yeah, you can still hack at it. Nobody's stopping that.
SPEAKER_05You're gonna take your vibration to the this elevator's never gonna work.
SPEAKER_03I think it's safe to say that this elevator is out of commission and that the ladders might be your option. So, Humphrey.
SPEAKER_06Climbing the ladder. Climbing a ladder. Climbing the ladder.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna climb the ladder after. Climbing a ladder. Still water. I'm going to I'll be the last one at the ladder. Okay. Maybe not quite the last since McDuff is down there hacking at the elevator. Energetically. There's two ladders, right? There's two ladders, actually, yes. So you could go two and two. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Can't believe I rolled like that. That's right.
SPEAKER_05That was pretty, pretty rad. No, I don't want to necessarily make everything worse for ourselves, but do we all have an effect when a teamster panics?
SPEAKER_03No, he can actually attempt to. What's your special ability there, teamster? You could have actually taken an advantage on a panic attack. Oh, yeah. I mean, it might be time. Oh, is that a thing? Yeah, that's right there. Your teamster, that's what you get to do, right? Yeah. Your trauma response. Once per session, you may take advantage on a panic check. Would you like to do that now? I would have probably negated that disadvantage. No, no, no. This is the panic check that you failed with your five. Right. Oh. So you could roll another D20 right now. Let's see if you get it. And then you get advantage. So if it's worse than being a coward, then you don't have to do it. If it's better than being a coward, or you roll high enough and there's no impact at all. Sure, why not? Roll the dice. 11. What's your still failed? Did it? Yeah. Alright. So uh would you like to be suspicious or a coward? Don't be suspicious. Don't be suspicious. That's his normal. I think we'll just go with the with the five being the better of the two since it's a lower role. Well, what is suspicious? It doesn't matter because you're a coward.
SPEAKER_06Because you're a coward.
SPEAKER_03I'd rather be suspicious. The five is in this case, the five is the better role, regardless of whether you want to choose to be the one or the other. So you're still a coward.
SPEAKER_05Coward is the only reason you're still alive on the fucking calls then.
SPEAKER_03Well, mine was, but he's dead. Right.
SPEAKER_02The cowards in Call of Cthulhu, the cowards survive. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06If you run, you live.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. Alright, so we got three four people going up the towers. Right. But I guess whatever when I go up, I will be the I will be the last one up so that way because I've got the blowtorch ready to go. All right. And the pulse rifle slung over my shoulder. All right. How high are we climbing? Huh? You have to go with the blowtorch should be first. I recommend the right away for everybody. You have to climb 60 feet.
SPEAKER_04It's gonna be a hell of a hole. Yeah. Are you gonna fit in there with the flamethrower? I that's a good question.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Yeah, you could strap it on your across over your shoulders and you'll fit. I mean, I depends on the style style of the flamethrower. It's man portable. It doesn't have a backpack. Right. It's not like World War II style with the bear hand things on your back. All right, picture Ripley. You see an alien, right? Right? Yeah. She taped them together. Super soaker with a tank on the bottom. Right. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah, exactly. Okay, that's what I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That's what it is. All right. Easy. Yeah, no problem. All right. So you climb the tower. When you look down around the side, you can see some carts climbing on the other side. They're climbing like two of them, one on each of the other side. Like you're going up in let's picture the tower as a square. We have a little square thing in front of us. One part of the tower has it has a ladder on the left corner here and the right corner here. Okay. The elevator was in the middle. Right. Alright. So you guys are climbing on these two legs. On the far legs, the other side. The other side. They're climbing up as well. Yep. We would we know those from the ladder. Yes, yes, because it's all just a lattice work tower. It's not like a big concrete block tower. It's all metal lattices. Uh-huh. Four metal lattices in the corner with an elevator inside. And then at the top, there's the room that's supported by the four four-cornered pillars. We can we shoot them from the ladder? You could. Okay. It might be a little difficult because of slipperiness and you're on a ladder. It's wet. The winds are going about 40 miles an hour. Sounds like you take that. Although, you know, if you it's a caged ladder, so you could just lean back. If you have some kind of critical failure while shooting, expect bad things to happen. So are we ahead of them? Yes. You're up. Yeah, because you guys are long. You guys stated you were climbing like two rounds ago. Right. So Frank, you're almost at the top. That was freaking quick. Well, it's only 60 feet up. Not meters, feet. Okay. Okay.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03It'd take a couple of minutes to get up there. Yeah, it's maybe maybe two tops. Oh no. Yeah, it wouldn't be very long. Where are the other the where's the guy with the key card? Where is he? He's climbing up behind uh let's see. We got who's on uh we'll say that you guys are split up in the this way on the ladders. I got McTavish and Stillwater on the left tower with Brookman, the key card. Okay. And on the right side, we have Frank and Humphrey with Ivanovic climbing up.
SPEAKER_05From my vantage point climbing the ladder and seeing them climbing up. And would I be able to look back and see if I mean would bags on the machine gun in the APC be able to engage those things from where he is if I shout at him enough? Yeah, I think so. I mean, you still have short-range comms, too. A tower with a tower with alien creatures on it is also very unstable.
SPEAKER_02True. Pick your poison. I'd rather him shooting at things on the alien.
SPEAKER_03I don't know that you would need the tailbags to shoot the machine gun. Okay. Except the only thing is if he didn't see it. Right. Yeah, if he's looking at the water causeway. At the water in the causeway, which is exactly what he's doing.
SPEAKER_05His back is essentially to the tower. I'm going to shout through the comms to encourage him to uh take notice.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right. So you see his head perked up, he starts swiveling around. Meanwhile, Frank and God, I'm really having a heart. Stillwater. Get to the top of the tower. Okay. Oh, Stillwater is in the back.
SPEAKER_05So it would be Oh, was it you then? Yeah. It was first. Well, no, it was the doc, I think, was climbing up after he was first. There was somebody ahead of me, and then it was me, and then it was. Well, I've been going you two on the left or my on my left side tower.
SPEAKER_03Right. Oh, okay. Right, just to keep for me to keep it easy, right? Because we didn't really stay. Oh, I mean you I guess I guess you could. We split up. Yeah. So I figured it was Stillwater, then you, then Brookman. And then we have Frank, Humphrey, and Ivanovic.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03Does that sound reasonable? Okay. Okay. So Frank and Stillwater pretty much reach the top. And right when you get there, you hear a burst of machine gun fire and metallic noises as the machine gun ricochets off of the tower. It doesn't seem to dislodge the carcinogen on the other side. Actually, I lie. It did dislodge it. It fell. Oh, good shot. He didn't hit it and it didn't wound him. It just It knocked him off. Right, it knocked him off.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_03So one is on the tower legs. Well, one's easier than the top. So you guys are at the top. What are you doing? Trying to get to the door so we can get in. Okay. Alright.
SPEAKER_05Where's McDuff? McDuff! McDuff. You just hear a stream of Scottish swearing on the he's down at the bottom.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's still at the bottom. Right. He's got his suit is definitely does it work anyway? I would have been getting out of the suit. Right. You have no comms. Yeah, you have no comms. Right. I'm out of the suit, kicking and cursing.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Just You can toss a grenade down there to get his attention. Is that what Frank is doing with his action this round?
SPEAKER_03I I opened the shield on my suit and yelled down, McDuff, move your ass.
SPEAKER_04It's only 60 feet, right?
SPEAKER_03Even at uh even in the wind and the rain. Yeah, you can I get over. Yeah. Visibility is not great. It's harder than you think. Not great. Frank, you also see another ladder that goes up to the array. The array is essentially the building, and then on top of that is the actual antenna array. Probably got to get inside first to see what the problem is. Right. Well, Brookman has the key card, so it's going to take so you guys are essentially assessing the situation. You have a broad view, you can kind of just barely make out the terraforming station just on the other side of the dam. If you look down, you see the waves whipping in the swollen lake as the waters are significantly higher than you think that they would be designed for in this lake, the water having risen much over the last few days. From the torrential rain. From the torrential rain, right? We're talking tropical downpour for days here. The you see the bags is in the turret firing the machine gun at the side of the tower in an attempt to keep the carcinids from overwhelming you. So McTavish and Humphrey get to the top. Okay. How far up is the thing on the tower? It's about another 15 feet. That ladder is a little lot shorter. Essentially have one story kind of control room, and then up on top of this is the ladder. So the ladder goes maybe like 12 to 15 feet. Okay, so we're at we're on a platform.
SPEAKER_05You're on it like the yeah, there's a platform that goes around this room. We came up, thing is like here. On the other side of the room. On the other side of the platform. Yeah, yeah. What I would like to do is I'm going to grab my my my Windex bottle. Okay. While moving it across, I'm gonna loosen the cap, toss away the applicator, and I'm going to try to dump it over the side onto this thing. Okay. Alright, go for it. Which shipmo check do I need for that? That sounds combat.
SPEAKER_03Okay. A whole lot of luck. Yeah. That's what you need. I'll give you essentially I'll let the spray bottle have two dumps. Just for the wind and the rain.
SPEAKER_05I'm going to take my first dump, and that's not going to get it done.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so yeah, you did not calculate correctly for the wind and the rain. Right. It just disperses everywhere.
SPEAKER_06Right in your face. Right.
SPEAKER_03No, that would have been that would have been the critical failure of being back in his face. Yeah, you think maybe you just didn't wait quite long enough before you're a little bit of a premature. A little premature spraying. Did he make a six-inch puddle? No, he dispersed.
SPEAKER_06All right.
SPEAKER_03All right. So Humphrey. I would like to go over with my shotgun and try to take out the one the one that's crawling up the one was knocked off by Bags' machine gun fire. It wasn't hit what was hit, but it wasn't at the bottom. It fell back down. Yeah. And it doesn't seem to be much the worse for the wear for the 50-foot fall. Right. So you're going to go over there and essentially lean over the top of the tower and try to blast this thing right in the face. Yep, with my shotgun. Assuming it has a face. Alright, yeah. Go for it. Oh shit. That's not 93. 93. Not a critical failure. You definitely wouldn't want to be dropping any kind of weapons from on the top of the tower. But yeah, you kablam and completely missed. By the way, both of you take a stress for that.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Alright. Nine. Nine. What are you doing down there, McDuff? Not much running. Not much. Alright. So you're still a coward. You could, without having to implement the fear check from your panic, climb the tower. You just couldn't engage in violence. But I can hear lots of gunfire at this point. Combat's coming from up the tower. And right there. Behind you. Around me. And I'm in an enclosure try like with the machinery. Yeah, I mean, are you what are you retrying to get this thing restarted? I'm cowering. Okay. You're just kind of cowering down there. What else would I do? I don't know. You could do something. And you're the only one with the directions on how to reset this thing. Oh, oh, what a great thing to point out all of a sudden. Like he was the one who was told how to reset it. Correct. Right. He's not here.
SPEAKER_05Well, he was the one that chose this particular path for our adventure. He did kind of insist, didn't he?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. All right. So uh I think we all just gave up to not hear it anymore. Switch the ear face off.
SPEAKER_03He you haven't heard nobody has heard from Duff since they heard the more like I looked down.
SPEAKER_02Is he in his suit or is he I can't see him, can I?
SPEAKER_03Well, you could kind of lean over the tower and see him kind of underneath just probably the only thing you can really see is the suit on the ground, empty.
SPEAKER_02He got eaten.
SPEAKER_03Only possibilities he got eaten. If you opened your faceplate, you wouldn't the suit's just heavy and bulky without any purpose anymore. So yeah. Well, in that panicked moment, you got naked. Shedded. I dropped the whole suit. I'm out of the suit. Seems reasonable. So you see him down there, just kind of leaning up against the tower, shivering. McMahon, if you're in a suit that's electronic and it starts shorting, I'm getting the fuck out of the suit. Yeah, right? Well, the short was external cause, but yeah, I'd get out too. McTavish, I'm gonna go get McDuff. Get them inside. Yeah, Brookman and Ivanovic make it to the top at this point, and they have the key card. Right. I'm going to go back down the ladder and get McDuff. Okay. So this other alien is like up our ass now. Right. It is right there. Let's so well, let's go and like we'll just go around the table again. So McTavish. This alien is like right about to jump over the edge.
SPEAKER_05Uh I'm going to unsling my my rifle back across a couple of steps and you have one half of a bottle left. I said you'll get two dumps. So yeah, yeah, that's right. No, I'll throw it.
SPEAKER_03I'll try a last dump. One last ditch effort to dump this the spray bottle on it. The final dump. I'd like shaking it out at it.
SPEAKER_05It's a better range this time, right? Yeah, yes, it's a holy water screen. 39. That does beat my combat screen.
SPEAKER_03So you lower, you dump it all. All over the top of this thing just as it's about to crest the side of the tower. You can see that its sh hard outer shell starts kind of changing color slightly. Still water, you're going down the tower. I'm going to go back down the ladder to get McDuff. McDuff, are you doing anything while you're down there cowering? After I get out of the suit, I'm expressing my frustration with the equipment. By hacking it with a vibrator. Okay. It's damaging company property that's going to come out of your pay. Oh, I've lost my shit at this point. I don't care. I'm just kidding. Nobody's going to know it was you. Frank. Nobody's going to survive, man.
SPEAKER_04I'm going to take a shot at the now wet monster.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the one that. Okay. Yeah, you're going to peek around the corner.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Alright. What do you got a shot with? Pulse rifle? Yeah. Alright. 52. Blues high. Don't reread these rainy. Alright. No crit. So give yourself a stress for missing. Oh. And Humphrey.
SPEAKER_06I'm going to use my last shotgun blast at the creature.
SPEAKER_03Oh, nice. I hope you hit. Me too. I'm right there. He missed. 30.
SPEAKER_05That's a hit.
SPEAKER_0646 is my combat. Yep.
SPEAKER_05Alright. 4010. Whatever damage to its armored.
SPEAKER_06Six. Four. Four. One.
SPEAKER_0315. That's pitiful. That is pretty weak. That is. Yeah. Your last shot catches it flush, but it doesn't seem to penetrate its very significant armor. Man, I rolled a 0-0 to see if it fell off the tower. So not only did it not fall off the tower.
SPEAKER_06Has the armor been stripped away? Some of it. But not enough.
SPEAKER_03It launches itself over the top, and you hear from behind you this massive shot. Kaboom! Yeah. The sniper. The sniper. Right. And it sounds. Anybody with military training would recognize it as an anti-material rifle.
SPEAKER_06That was an anti-material rifle.
SPEAKER_03That was I've never seen one of them in action.
SPEAKER_06I've never heard of one.
SPEAKER_03We've now heard one. Yeah. But we're material. Wait a second. So are the aliens, right? Wait a second. And it catches this thing and essentially disintegrates it at your feet. Sweet. Thank God for Deus Ex Machina. And you see, you well, you see a man on the roof. Yeah. On the same roof that's the above on the on the top. With this massive, like Barrett. We would equivalate it probably to yes, a Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle size piece of equipment. Excellent. And then he just kind of looks at you and goes back in the other direction. Now you see this guy is covered with little cuts. And at his side, there's a synthetic bloodhound, a dog. Okay. And you see on the guy's pants multiple dog bites on his leg. Okay. And he goes and down to the other side and he kind of takes up a sniper position again. Are you confused? No, I'm enraged at the equipment. Okay. And Brookman comes up and he goes to the door with his key card. And he shh just like nothing's going on. Well, I mean, he's not exactly We're just gonna ignore that weird, bleeding sniper dude. I mean, he doesn't necessarily know what happened on the other side of the side.
SPEAKER_05And I don't know that I'm I feel better about things the way things are.
SPEAKER_02My bright side is the carcinids don't know how to use an antimaterial rifle. Yet. That's the only bright side here.
SPEAKER_05Well, he is on his way to becoming one. Or at least giving birth to a bunch of them. Right.
SPEAKER_03At least one.
SPEAKER_06I want that gun.
SPEAKER_03I respect that. So you see that there are more of the carcinids kind of coming out of the water in addition to Do I see this? Yeah, yeah, you see it. You hear bags firing occasionally. Those of you at the top of the tower, what is your action? McTavish?
SPEAKER_05I think I'm gonna look around and I'm gonna go. Huh. And that might be it.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Still water, you're climbing down, you'll be down next round. Alright. Macduff. Anything? So in my cowardice, I see more aliens coming out of the water.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Then I'm going to bolt for the ladder. Okay.
SPEAKER_03And try to climb up the ladder. Which one? Whatever is closest to me.
SPEAKER_02There is no conscious thought here. There's no rationale.
SPEAKER_03It's the one to the right.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'm going to the one to the right.
SPEAKER_03Okay. That's not the one you're going down. That's fine. But at least not how I picture it. Oh, that would have been hilarious. That would have. Then I'm going to the left. I depiction them arguing right there on the ladder, right? Or just like two eight-year-olds trying to get through the trying to pass each other. No, you move. No, you move. A lot of slapping. Touch touching. Hair pulling. It doesn't say how long panic lasts. Or ever.
SPEAKER_06It never goes away. Trust me. I'm trying to figure out without medication. Yeah. Panic for a long time.
SPEAKER_02I did notice that there didn't seem to be any quantification of that in the rules. Right, yeah. Well, don't you? Is there a way to recover from panic? Well, there's a way to recover from stress. Rather than death.
SPEAKER_05No drug use.
SPEAKER_03Well, y'all are too goddamn hairy for that. So let's move on. Right. So at the top, the door has been opened. Going in and trying to send a message. Okay. What are you doing, Humphrey?
SPEAKER_06I am shooting at anything I can. Is there anything available to shoot at?
SPEAKER_03On the tower, only your friends. I use that term loosely.
SPEAKER_06There is something to shoot at. No.
SPEAKER_03I shoot anything that moves. I don't know. I might volunteer in a minute.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_03So you're essentially covering the legs of the tower. Yep. And you are out of ammunition for your shotgun. I am.
SPEAKER_06I got a pulse rifle.
SPEAKER_03You keep your shotgun on your person? Yes, I do. Okay, alright. It's a club. Alright, so Frank, you uh said something about entering the control room. Yeah. Alright, and Ivanovic and Brookman are also kind of gonna go in. You walk into this control room and you see that right in front of you, in the control room, is a kark. I need to make a I need a fear save from you. I need it done at disadvantage.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's not fair. A kark.
SPEAKER_03Seven cark. Blue high.
SPEAKER_04Carson it made a bug. Disadvantage. Oh, made it. Woo! Of course you did. Because you're Frank. Yeah, 79.
SPEAKER_03I got a 72. Androids are stupidly high on that. Yeah. Right. One of the Brooke Brookman. He has a mental breakdown.
SPEAKER_06We're tuned, man. We're tuned. He's on the gun, right?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_05No, he on the key card. He scanned and he's fulfilled his purpose.
SPEAKER_03Right. So is this thing moving? Yes, it is moving. Barely. It doesn't actually seem it's there. It's on the controls, and it looks to have some kind of wiring going out of it. Like sending the message. Strapped onto the controls. He's somebody probably kind of a bio machine interface for carcinods.
SPEAKER_06Did the scientists do this?
SPEAKER_03Yes. Is this human done or well you would suspect that the carcinid did not do it to itself? Probably not. And it actually looks at you with its beady carcinid eyes. Hell. And you actually kind of right like you actually get the sense that, man, this thing is in tremendous pain here on top of this machinery. I'm gonna go save the alien. So uh Stillwater and McDuff climb to the top of the tower. What is Bags? What's Bags doing? He's probably out of ammo by now? Taking shots every now and then. No, he would have had a significant amount of ammo. Probably five bursts of or five magazines, so like 25 bursts. He's got a pretty good amount. Okay. So anybody else? So Humphrey McDuff, Tavish. What did you say you were doing besides kind of hanging out?
SPEAKER_05The last thing I was doing was just going, huh, and staring around. But I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to can I get to the ladder going up to the platform where anti-material guy was. You most definitely can. I'm going to do that.
SPEAKER_03Alright, you go over to the ladder and start climbing up. Okay. Okay. So Stillwater and McDuff, you guys get to the top of the tower. The door is open. Frank is inside. Humphrey's kind of patrolling the outside edges of the tower looking for targets. You notice something about McDuff that kind of sets you on edge. Oh. Well. Besides the normal stuff. And the fact that he's not wearing an environmental suit. Right. The fact that he's not wearing an environmental suit, you see that his face and arms and hands are covered in little cuts. Uh-oh. And I'm in nothing but jockey shorts and a wife right here. Why jockey shorts?
SPEAKER_06Why am I?
SPEAKER_03Because it's it fits the image. He's Scottish. I'm gonna need you to make me a fear save. Yeah, fear. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Fear.
SPEAKER_03And I'm gonna need you to take a fear save with disadvantage. Because this is the first time anybody's finding out about it.
SPEAKER_02I feel like you're out to get me. All these fear saves with disadvantage. You're infected, dude. We're all infected, dude. I feel fine. I don't think I'm infected. Well, that's a 55. Okay. Which is a critical failure. Frank's getting out. Right. And that's a 43, which is just a failure. Okay.
SPEAKER_03So I got a critical failure. Alright. Yeah. So I need you to take one D5 stress. He's staring at his D10, trying to figure out how this will be. Oh, that's a two. It'd be a one. So you get one. So one stress. Right. So I'm up to 13. And then roll your D20 for your panic check, which is not an automatic failure, even though you're already panicked. An eight. An eight, yeah. So you already used your advantage for the day. Even though it was useless. You've lost confidence in your ability to fix industrial equipment. Well, that that fits.
SPEAKER_05It's entirely right.
SPEAKER_03It tends to be just you are you have a loss of confidence, which is a condition, lose one skills bonus. So I'm almost guessing the way I almost see these is that you kind of keep some of these effects until you get to have a rest period almost. Like these are add-on kind of conditions. And you, Stillwater. Until the I failed. You failed. You see him with all the signs that you've seen on all the infected people. Shoot him. So roll a you failed your fear. Correct. Make a panic check. Okay. Shoot. I gotta roll over, right? Or I gotta roll. Over. Over. Over. Sorry, yeah. Because it's going up. So we haven't actually done this a lot, but today it's really adding up, isn't it? I made. You made it. So you were almost expecting it. Based on his irrational actions, there couldn't be any other explanation. Alright, so those of you in the control room, Frank and Al Frank. Frank. Just Frank. And the bug. And the bug that is strapped to the controls. Well, that would explain it.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna go see if he wants to uh take a sponge bath.
SPEAKER_03So you're gonna go. All right.
SPEAKER_04Please explain what that means to the audience. I am going to throw the hydro whatever fluoric acid on this thing. Okay. He seems to be tied in, right? He's definitely tied in. So he's not really moving too much. Yeah, I'm getting as close as I can without him touching me, and then I'm going to just sh douse him with water.
SPEAKER_03It's strapped down in some like industrial grade ratchet straps. So you're just gonna dump it or you're just gonna spray it a bunch. I'm gonna dump it on him. He's gonna dump it all up. He's getting wet. All right. So you don't have to roll or anything. You see that it looks like this causes it tremendous pain, but it doesn't actually kill it.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Well, my pulse rifle will then. All right.
SPEAKER_03Next round. All right. And you're climbing the ladder, you get to the top of the ladder.
SPEAKER_05I'm climbing the ladder, getting into the top of the ladder. I'm going to walk slowly towards the guy. Right.
SPEAKER_03And he looks at you just out of the corner of his eye. Hey, what's going on? Don't get too close. Could go any moment. What are we talking about, friend? You know what I'm talking about. You see it's covered in little cuts. Oh, and the dog was biting him too, so the dog's probably trying to get at it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04How long's it been? Since what?
SPEAKER_03Since you've been screamed at. A while, man. It's been a while. I don't know. I don't know. Lost lose track of time sometimes. What's your name, soldier? I'm Sergeant Underhill. Underhill. Damn it. Underhill. What are you planning to do? No relation. What are you planning to do?
SPEAKER_06No relation.
SPEAKER_03I'm just taking out as many of these sons of bitches as I can before I turn into one, man. Where are you guys? Who are you? I don't remember you. I'm McTavish. I'm from the company. Oh, that's not exactly encouraging. No, I get it.
SPEAKER_05I'm with you. Yeah, you are right now. I don't want to be here either, man.
SPEAKER_03He's like, hold on. Sorry. There was one right about to get into the APC.
SPEAKER_05You've been like this for a couple of days? Yeah, days. I don't know. What's today? What's with the dog? It's Marlo. It's my dog. He doesn't seem to always be friendly to you. Oh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Marlo just bites me when I get a little alien-y. I look over at the dog. What's the dog doing? Respect. It's just kind of sitting there right by Sergeant Underhill. It's a synthetic dog, so it doesn't have a boundless amount of energy to come licking your hand. Right. It's not in its programming. Right, Frank?
SPEAKER_05I wouldn't know. So basically, I'm just gonna try to talk to him. I want to get some details. Where are you from? Okay. Do you have wife, kids at home, all that stuff?
SPEAKER_03Nah, no, man. You start traveling too much hyperspace, you don't get to have a family. You know how that goes. Yeah, I know. Take a lot of trips, suddenly you come back and your kid's 30 years old and you never even met him. Are you sure it's your kid? No, man, no. So what's the deal? You guys here to with the company? What do they want? What's the company? What's the company's goals here?
SPEAKER_05Get us off this rock. I can't go. Well, they haven't necessarily informed us of those. We were just checking to see if everybody was okay down here, and the answer is No, it hasn't been okay for a long while, hasn't it? I just keep them company. But I'm making sure I have a round chambered in my pulse rifle. Okay.
SPEAKER_03So Frank, you put a hole. Yeah. You don't even need to roll. You go or whatever the sound a pulse rifle makes, and it kills the cart dead. Actually, roll, we'll see if it goes in a spectacular way. So just roll me a gunshot wound critical. A D10. Oh. One D10. Yeah, you don't have to roll the hit. Just two. Two. All right, yeah. It didn't die on the first shot. Boom. So uh McDuff and be like me, myself, and Irene, the cow. McDuff and Stillwater. You guys are standing in front of the door, you're eyeballing each other. McDuff, do you know how to reset this thing? No. You don't know shit. They didn't tell you how to do anything? Didn't they give him a pamphlet? Dr. Kawaguchi told you how to reset. I am aware of that, but I have lost my confidence. Oh, gotcha. In industrial building.
SPEAKER_02In repairing any sort of mechanical equipment. Oh, that's excellent. Right. So I don't know how to fix shit. What did the doc tell you? He told me to flip the thing and then push the pram and flush it. I don't know. Sounds like a bunch of horse shit to me. So he didn't actually like give him written directions. He gave them to them verbally.
SPEAKER_03Right. He gave them to him verbally, but that was my cover for giving him his little note of how you might be infected.
SPEAKER_02Is it hot in here? You're drenched in a downpour. No. Fuck, it's hot.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's you. It probably also is hot. That's probably you.
SPEAKER_03You got a little touch of something right now, I think. I do. The rain really stings all of your little cuts. Fucking acid rain here.
SPEAKER_02No, I think it's more along the lines.
SPEAKER_04Have you taken a look at your arm? Fuck it. You might want to chew on the end of this.
SPEAKER_02I zapped my suit and it sh cut me all up. I don't know what's going on. Yeah. We'll go with that. If you want to believe that, go ahead. That's my story. And you're sticking to it. I got it.
SPEAKER_03Well, come on, we need to get inside and see if we can reset this thing. So go. Two. The hell.
SPEAKER_02I'm fucking staying out here. Come on, McDuff. It's all clear. Fuck no. Man. I'm also cowardly. Right, I know. So I'm yeah, he's right.
SPEAKER_03Well, you're only you're only cowardly when it comes to engaging in violence.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just heard two gunshots from in there.
SPEAKER_03That counts as violence in my mind. I held all clear. So I'm just like, you said there's a like a porch kind of walkway. Oh, there's a metal walkway around the entire top of this tower. I'll be like walking away from the door around that walkway a little bit. There are railings, just so you know. That's not built by the Empire. So, Humphrey, you're patrolling the railings. Every now and then you see one get close enough to take a shot at. Okay. So I'll like we'll go every third round. You would like you can make a combat check if you'd like.
SPEAKER_06I would like.
SPEAKER_03Okay. With a pulse rifle? Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_0671. That's no good.
SPEAKER_03That's no good. So you every time you fail, that's why I gave you the option not to shoot.
SPEAKER_06I get stress.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Okay, that's fine. I like stress. I have a question. Yes, sir. Have we killed someone with all these scratches on them?
SPEAKER_05We might be about to.
SPEAKER_02No, we have not. We have not. No, we have watched them died to the thing inside them. Right. They were also. But we have never actually.
SPEAKER_06If I shoot him, will he just become a creature or will we probably true? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_02Are the single instance of witnessing this? Someone went up to them and interacted with them, and when doing so, it shot him with a tank pistol.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's what I was thinking too. It wouldn't help us to prematurely kill them.
SPEAKER_02You should throw them over the railing.
SPEAKER_06Throw them over the railing.
SPEAKER_02That was uh that was my immediate thought as well. In the water. Yeah, I was just push them off.
SPEAKER_05This platform that me and the guy are on.
SPEAKER_03Is it a is there like a parapet around it or is that you mean like uh no, the whole roof is kind of slightly sloped, just enough to keep the water running off, but there is a railing along the edge, and it's like kind of a gritty material on the roof so that you don't necessarily slip.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_03So it's kind of like, but not really that it's not individual pieces. How high is the railing, and how tall is the guy? The railing is about three and a half feet, give or take. And he's a standard 5'9 to 6'2 human being, of and he's pretty skinny, if you're asking about like actual weight, because you get so you don't get hungry apparently. And you hear him every little bit like he's moving around, eyeballing the uh the dam and kind of covering the APC for you.
SPEAKER_05Okay. You ever see one of these things come out of anybody? What what was his name? Underhill. Sergeant Underhill. Oh, that's right. Underhill. You ever see one of these things come out of anybody?
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, yeah. I saw it happen to Olsen at his birthday party, and it just ripped itself right out of him and started running amuck, shrieking, murdering. Terrible.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. It is. Well, the we when we got to that garage, we were all checked. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Okay. For scratches. Yes. And we didn't have any at the time. Not at the time. Gonna loosen a glove, I'm gonna check. Okay. You're still good. I'm still good. Okay. Oh. Alright. Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna have my existential dilemma. You guys go on with your bad selves. Alright. So you two are walking.
SPEAKER_03Are you uh still outside on the platform? Underhill and I feel fine. No, I'm I'm gonna get still water and McDuff.
SPEAKER_02What? Yeah, come on. We need come on. What the hell? Move your ass. Come on. What? Move it. Come on. I'm gonna like get behind him and I'm going to actually get behind McDuff and try to push him towards the door. Like, come on, let's go.
SPEAKER_03And McDuff is. What? Look. Wait, hold on. Are you touching the guy that has the cuts all over him? No. Oh, okay. He said he pushed me.
SPEAKER_02He touched me. He said mom, he touched me. He's in a biohazard suit. He's touching me. No, he's not. I am. I took the spare one. Not Nemo. Okay. But no, like I took the pulse rifle, just kind of pushed. When he goes to motion to that, I'm just gonna click on the vibro shed. Click. All right. Look, I know you like the knife, but come on, let's go.
SPEAKER_03We've got to get this thing reset. Click. Humphrey, you see these two interacting such as this. I do. As you're trying to keep everybody safe, they're over here playing with machetes and trying to argue and bicker their way into success. But as a coward. Oh no, it makes total sense. You don't have to justify it to me. I'm not the one, I'm not the person.
SPEAKER_02Howard would be threatening somebody with a knife. Well, see, the reality is I'm getting ready to run. Is he his back to because I can't actually engage in combat without making a save, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I could back would be to you. I will say this Stillwater is essentially to the left of the door, and McDuff is to the right. So yeah, he would be. You could come around behind him if you'd like.
SPEAKER_06Like to hit him in the head with the butt of my shotgun.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so you're gonna go BA won't go on the airplane. A team on him. Yeah, make a close, close combat. While your attack using your close combat skill. We just lost half of our audience with one reference. All two of them. Wait, hold on. That didn't work out. What reference did I make that nobody? You made A-Team reference? The A team reference from like 1978?
SPEAKER_04There was a movie made in the aughts. That was the 80s anyway.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's such a big difference. Yeah, they did. So you was at the time. It was a big deal here. Yeah, you you go try to push Bellbottom.
SPEAKER_06I don't know why. I've rolling 70.
SPEAKER_03Were you just trying to put you were trying to knock him out? So yeah, I would have made a roll for that. Yeah. So yeah, that's fine. You didn't make you didn't you hear it? You smashed him in the head, but did not right, right. You just you get clunked in the back of the head. It just kind of brushed you, like bang. Ah, no damage was done, only feelings were hurt.
SPEAKER_04So what is the sorry dude? Sorry.
SPEAKER_02How does this work mechanically? So he just engaged me in combat. Correct. That's not what happened. Yeah, that's exactly what happened.
SPEAKER_03So as a coward, I have to make some sort of a save to engage in combat. You need to make a fear save or engage in combat or flee. All right. Let's see what happens here. Oh my god, you can jump off my chocolate on your head. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Fear save is 32. I rolled a 20.
SPEAKER_03All right. Yes, which means I can engage in combat.
SPEAKER_02Engage in combat. So let's paint the picture. On a tower, bad guy aliens everywhere. I attacked. Something came up behind me and hit me in the back of the head. You realize he's just trying to dust it. Already freaked out. It's okay. So I feel that the natural reaction would be to just spin around and swing. There we go. I told you.
SPEAKER_03I mean, it might be a natural reaction. That's probably what I would do. That was flailing arms. Failing.
Okay. That's our whole thing. A danger to himself. That might be our motto. It's definitely the intro. McGill is a danger to himself and others at the time. That's right. So let's see. I have not lost my confidence in my ability to swing a viber shit. No. Roll percentage for your combat. It's that simple. A 23. Right? So now you are essentially going to be murdering your friend. So roll your damage.
SPEAKER_04We're snowing your dude.
SPEAKER_03He didn't start this.
SPEAKER_04That's true.
SPEAKER_06How much armor do you have? I have all the armor.
SPEAKER_03All five points. All five points. Ignores, actually. Ignores and destroys. I think it still reduces. Or ignores. So it'll drop five points. What? What?
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's 11. 17 points. 17. So minus five. So that'll be 12 health. So how much health does. And all of your armor is destroyed.
SPEAKER_06I have 12 health.
SPEAKER_03So you take a wound again. And your suit's toast. Your suit is toast. This devolved quickly?
SPEAKER_04Yes, it did.
SPEAKER_03It wasn't my fault.
SPEAKER_04As soon as he went into his tirade, I knew that's all he was going to do instead. Right.
SPEAKER_03When the DM starts passing notes, shit's about to hit the fan. Well, I mean, to be fair, all I did was give you the information. I didn't make you do any. Shall I read the note to the party? There's some definite justification there.
SPEAKER_06You will attack the next person you can do.
SPEAKER_02Here was the note. So the note says Dr. Kawadu Gucci wrote down the restart procedure for you, but as you sit in the APC, your skin feels as if it's being poked by pins and needles. You suddenly feel kind of sweaty, and you swear you keep hearing the occasional whisper. Maybe it's all in your head. Dot dot dot. Maybe.
SPEAKER_03Oh, but he did write down the directions. Apparently. Apparently I did. Since I said I did. Dr.
SPEAKER_02Kawaguchi did.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Well, whatever. But I said he did for you.
SPEAKER_02But they are probably in the suit on the bottom. In the suit that's at the bottom of the tower and shorted out and is full of smoke and probably smoldering.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Or whatever. Well, they in my tidy whiteys. Okay, so let's stop ignoring the player-on-player combat to talk about notes and underwear. And uh you took a wound. Roll the wounds. Oh, no, you don't want to roll. Can I roll? If somebody's gonna kill you, it's gonna be your friend Sean. I want to roll it. I mean McDuff. McDuff's gonna roll. So this thing, unfortunately for you, I believe the vibro shed is does double. It does, yeah. You roll on two separate charts because it's so god-awful murderous. It is. Let's see, both bleeding and gore. There you go. What limb did I sever? What I roll? Percentage? You roll a D10, one for bleeding and one for gore. So do the bleeding. The zeros is bleeding, the ones is gore. Gotta reopen that cut in his eye. Seven for bleeding and five for gore. Explored. I ain't never seen a head come a pot like that. Alright. So you go in with the butt stroke and miss, and you'd kind of drop your arms down with a moment of slight regret, since he didn't go unconscious. It's gonna be four. McDuff turns around and swings wildly across your side. Your arm, left arm was down by your side. Was now it's down by the floor. Now your left arm is on the floor and there is blood gushing everywhere. Your left arm is severed, you are bleeding fiber round. In addition to that, the follow-through of the vibrette has gone into your lower back.
unknownOh shit.
SPEAKER_03And you crumple to the ground, unable to stand. You lost an arm and paralyzed from the waistband. You have one arm left, dude. That's it. And the blood is just gushing out and flowing down. So you're like Bishop from the final scene in Aliens. You're just like a torso. And Brookman, being the medic that he is, hearing the commotion outside and the scream of pain, which he is very familiar with, rushes out and sees you laying on the ground. Of course, McDuff is still there. I didn't scream. Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_07He just like spun around and went, fuck.
SPEAKER_03I'm just trying to figure out how Brookman and Ivanovic may react to this. But I will give the party first opportunity to react.
SPEAKER_04We know he's we know he's alien.
SPEAKER_03You wait, you see it now.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I don't. I'm in the room.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but if you look and like you see if you know he's ten feet away. Oh, okay. You can see the cut. You see he's got a bleeding, dripping vibrachette in his right arm. Humphrey's arm is laying next to his foot, and the rest of Humphrey is down, crumpled in a ball. Well. Okay. Sorry, Eric. He invited you here, I would just like to point out.
SPEAKER_06He swung first, bro. I tried to knock him out. Mom, he's touching me. Peacefully.
SPEAKER_03I should have given you advantage. That's what I should have done. He wasn't ready. Right. Still water, you're standing right there. What just happened? To be Yeah. I'll take a stress test on that one. Yeah, there are. Yeah. Shouldn't there just be all around? Anybody that saw it? Because he went down. He's a party member. Yeah, I guess. Even yourself might be a stress test?
SPEAKER_04Fear save.
SPEAKER_03Well, stress, I would think, more than fear save. So you're saying panic? Yeah. But you're saying you just want to take a panic check because you made okay. So I mean. So I can react now. And now if you want to roll a fear save, I can do it. No, you're good. If you're willing to make a panic check, I'm not gonna make you make the fear save. All right. Well, I pass my panic check, and I'm going to let loose the flamethrower. Right on McDuff. Right on McDuff.
SPEAKER_07Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Wow. What have I done?
SPEAKER_02See that you chain reaction. You pushed the first domino. Right. But what's going to happen here is he's going to critically fail. It's going to explode. And we all just die. Light the tower on fire. That's metal. I did fail. I rolled a 64 in my combat. Okay.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, 66. Just a gout of flame off the floor.
SPEAKER_03The guys in the telecommunications shed. It'd be a pile of rubber. There's a 10-foot flame erupts out of the front of this thing, missing everybody.
SPEAKER_07What the shit?
SPEAKER_03So does it like go past my shoulder or wildly goes up into the air and like misses everything completely as he made a snap check from the hip. Don't forget to take this. I already did. Gotcha. Everybody's got that down now.
SPEAKER_05Does McDuffie get back to the ship with the alien in it? Covered in the blood. I'm hearing all of this in the world.
SPEAKER_03You're hearing screams and you're fire a burst of heat as a flamethrower. Right, bursts up into the gunfire, technically. Just fire. Right, fire, fire. And Frank. I'm trying to unhook the alien. Yeah, you get it unplugged from like you just cut the wires, rip them out. How do you do it?
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah, you said it was like biomechanical shit, so it's probably not.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's got like sensors around its head or whatever passes for a head for this crabstrosity. So they don't want to destroy the communications equipment. Alright. Yeah, you could take it off relatively slowly-ish. You don't have to cut the wires, you can just kind of unplug everything.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's that's what I'm doing. Unplug everything and see if I can get it working.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I have computer skill and you're gonna unplug everything and look at whatever it takes to get this thing working. Yep. Even though you know that McDuff was the one that had the directions.
SPEAKER_04Well, I don't think he's gonna live very long, so I'm getting ahead of the game trying to figure out the stuff.
SPEAKER_03See, that kid's elevator repair is a very dangerous. She could hazard pay for that. Alright, so let's talk about the bonus situation. McTavish.
SPEAKER_05You hear chaos below. Alright. I've been contemplating a whole other combat in my head. Okay. And hearing all of the commotion, I'm just gonna snap and just do it. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but I'm just gonna do it. You're just gonna kill. I'm gonna kill the deck. I'm going to hip check this guy off of the tower. He's playing prone. Oh, okay. He's doing it anyway! He's laying prone.
SPEAKER_03Scoop him up. He was going back and forth. Oh, well, that way he came back because he went over to the corner where you guys were firing guns down, and then he went back towards the damn side of the top of the tower and took up a prone position. This rifle is very unwieldy. It doesn't look like it's very good from close range. Okay.
SPEAKER_02You hope.
SPEAKER_03So he's laying down prone out on like on the top of the tower, essentially right at your feet. I would like him to die far away from me. Oh, I see what you're saying.
SPEAKER_04Because he's gonna turn soon as well.
SPEAKER_05Like as soon as he goes, there's gonna be a crab coming out of him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03More than likely. You you yes, that's your assumption. Yeah, but you got that acid balloon, baby. I don't. He dumped it. I dumped mine. Yeah, both. Oh, your spray bottle, too? Both is dumps.
SPEAKER_04Mine's gone.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow.
SPEAKER_06Maybe you can ask him to please kind of. There's probably a couple down by that burned out.
SPEAKER_05You see. You say that gun is not going to be very good at close range. No, it looks very unwieldy. Hard to get that muzzle around. Disadvantage. Right. So killing him quickly and grabbing that and using that against the alien is probably not a good strategy. Which alien? The one that comes out.
SPEAKER_06The one that comes out. The one that comes out.
SPEAKER_03No, the one two feet away? Not so much. There's no alien there yet. It's just Nightmare Rifle's a good club, and that's about it.
SPEAKER_05And we're about 15 feet off of the other deck. Yeah, about 15 feet up. Sean's trying to think of the chess move here. Alright, so I'm still pondering then for this round. You just how am I gonna kill this guy? Remember, you have grenades. I that's the next strategy. Calculating wind velocities. The feasibility of popping the pin, rolling it towards him, and jumping off. Okay.
SPEAKER_06So use your remote for the grenade.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay. Everything will be fine. And then don't forget to salute.
SPEAKER_03Alright. So here's what Brookman is. As the alien hits you in the back of the head. Here's what Brookman and Ivanovic are gonna do. So Brookman is gonna rush out to Humphrey. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Save me.
SPEAKER_03Ivanovic pulls his gun on McDuff and orders him to drop his weapon. So you're going to, he's gonna Brookman comes out, he starts patching your arm, doing all the things that's necessary, and he hits you with a stimpack.
SPEAKER_05He's already had one today.
SPEAKER_03You know this.
SPEAKER_05It doesn't really matter. I mean, is that the what's he gonna do? This is wise.
SPEAKER_06He's gonna go into no. Can I get three more of them?
SPEAKER_03I don't think stimpacks do not heal wounds. They only heal health, of which you have one wound left, if I recall, right? You'll have one, you have one left because you are a Marine and started with three. Does it cauterise? You're correct. Right, nothing cauterizes, but it does it does say it heals your d10. So your health will get six points over a short amount of time. The bleeding will be stopped by the bandages from the first aid kit. The uh there's nothing tourniquet. There's nothing to yeah, nothing to do about the paralyzation. So he just kind of puts you into a position and on the ground. Anyway, um and then Ivanovic points his uh his rifle at McDuff and orders him to drop his weapon.
SPEAKER_01Drop it, you son of a bitch! You alien infected fuck!
SPEAKER_03That's fair. Isn't my turn? I mean, you can react. I mean I'm pointing right at a gun right at you, so yeah, you kind of got the spotlight now.
SPEAKER_02So I let go of the handle.
SPEAKER_03It's on a lanyard, so it's hanging from my wrist. I can't drop it. Put it down all the way. Don't play semantics games with me, you son of a bitch. I didn't say anything to him. I just like put my hands up. He doesn't care. Sudden reaction. He puts his arm right out in front of your face. There's still water with the dangly mmm going. Can it get is it far enough or is it close enough? Right, yeah, it's right there.
SPEAKER_04Disarm him. I'm going to reach out to grab the vibrachette off of his wrist.
SPEAKER_03Grab the rest of his shit, too. You only got underwear. The rest. Right, never mind. Nothing there. Disgusting. I turn the vibrachette off and I take it off of his arm. Alright, so now you have it. Now I have the vibrochette. Right. Okay. That's all I really wanted. Get in here and fix this fucking thing. I can't fix shit, lad. He's useless. You better figure it out.
SPEAKER_02Or you'll do what? Kill me? Keep him covered.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, I can't believe I haven't done it already. Already gonna die, asshole. I know. I know. How long you've been infected? You weren't infected a lot a while ago. This just started, didn't it? I just noticed it when that fucking suit shot it out. Well, that wasn't the cause now, was it? Bam! Oh. Whoops. Whoops. I was gonna ask Humphrey what he's doing, but you're not unconscious. You're just in tremendous pain. Everything's turning white, though. Skateboard.
SPEAKER_06I concentrate on my injuries. What are you gonna do? Bleed on me? Yeah. Give me a pistol.
SPEAKER_04You got one good hand, right?
SPEAKER_03All right. So let's have at you. Frank, you're still working on the controls. You think, yeah, you could do this if like you it's complicated and you haven't seen this particular setup before. You might need instructions.
SPEAKER_04If only we had written instructions somewhere. I'm gonna go into the and a competent fixer to I'm gonna go into the control room and try to help out Frank.
SPEAKER_03Okay, you're gonna help out Frank. All right. So be I'll allow you guys to make a uh a check. So uh what is it like an industrial repair? I I have a question for the game master. Yes, sir. I'm a warden. Sorry, sorry, game warden, sorry, warden.
SPEAKER_02Wouldn't this go into computers? I've lost my confidence to fix things. Uh-huh. That doesn't mean I couldn't regurgitate the instructions.
SPEAKER_05I'd allow it, sure. Mechanically, the only thing that happened to you is you lost your bonus for fixing things.
SPEAKER_02It says psychologically, I lost my confidence in my ability to fix things.
SPEAKER_03So whether I can do it or not, I don't feel like I can do it. It says one skills bonus. You wouldn't even need to nest you wouldn't even need to make a role if you had the instructions. Oh, well, okay. So, but the question isn't do you have the instructions?
SPEAKER_02So I can do it, but I'd be saying, oh, this isn't gonna fucking work. Time I was doing it.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Well, I mean, that would be the player would say that anyway. If I know the player well enough, and I think I do, the entire time you'd be like, this is stupid, it's not gonna work. Until it does. But since the instructions are at the bottom of the tower, we're in your suit, and you are up here, I'm gonna have to make you uh recall it with an intelligence check. Okay. And you can like every round, I'll allow a new check until you're like, what was that? And while you're thinking about it. Really, it just adds time. In the meantime, a carcinid. I have failed the first check, by the way. Has climbed up over the edge of the tower. You see it. Thunderhill. Alright, yeah, it's kind of it's kind of behind him and to the left.
SPEAKER_05Alright, well, I'm gonna shoot at it with my pulse rifle. Okay. That that delays my uh my ethical dilemma a little bit. And I hit an 85, which is a fail. Right. I am now at 10 stress. Okay. And boom. Okay.
SPEAKER_02We can go back to work and tell everybody that I killed you this weekend.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06But I'm not dead.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_03Alright.
